Yonezard Monogatari

This series is a precursor to Hiroshi Masumura’s Atagoal. It was serialized in Monthly Magazine Garo (月刊漫画ガロ) from May 1975 to March 1976. The story depicts the people of Yonezard, rising up against the re-invasion of King Kurmel, who once ruled the continent of Yonezard. Many characters in Atagoal would make their first appearances in this series (Ex. Tempura, Gilbars, and Pantsu) although their roles are significantly different in this series than those from future Atagoal publications.

The Red Snake

Beware the red snake! Told from the perspective of a young boy, The Red Snake is a story of the above boy, the house he inhabits, and the forest around his house that stretches on and on. The characters in the story are all mad: his grandfather, who sports a massive growth on his jaw; his grandmother, who believes she is a chicken; his father, who is vicious to the chickens he raises (except for his mother, to whom he provides eggs that so that she can claim she laid them herself); and his sister, whose affection for insects borders on the erotic. The story evolves into a classic nightmare. The Hino Horror series: Hino Horror Volume 1: The Red Snake (赤い蛇 Akai Hebi) Hino Horror Volume 2: The Bug Boy (毒虫小僧 Dokumushi Kozou) Hino Horror Volume 3: Oninbo and the Bugs from Hell (地獄虫を食う! 鬼んぼ Jigoku Mushi Woku! Soul Diver Saga: Nirvana

In 1992, Shintaro Kago began publishing what was supposed to be the first full-length manga of his career. Unfortunately, the magazine that published it, Bandai's Cyber Comix, was discontinued in October of that year and the manga remains unfinished to this day. Only three chapters exist. Kago did recycle the basic concept of a girl able to switch between our reality and a cyberspace-like spiritual realm in a later one-shot (ataraxia) and an even later different full-length work (Six Consciousnesses Thought Changing Ataraxia).

The Illusionary Island

A man washed up on an unknown, isolated island has lost his memory. Giant creatures roam around, ruthlessly devouring their prey. Suddenly, the man trembles in fear and discovers an extremely high castle wall. He expected to see signs of civilization and humans, but a large number of corpses were dumped from the top of the castle wall, refusing to come. As the man secretly watched the situation on the castle wall, he began to feel a strong desire to go to the other side of the wall. What will happen on the other side of this high wall, and what will be the fate of this man? One of Hideshi Hino's masterpieces, painted in 1972. The fantastical world view that makes you feel color in monochrome gradually pulls the reader away from reality. You too will get lost in a mysterious space along with the main character. Recreate the original cover from the first edition as much as possible. Includes many other masterpieces.
