Originally was meant to be a magical girl series, but the timeslot the anime version was on was switched; therefore it had to be changed for a 'shonen' demographic. Ultimately, Honey ended up being not a magical girl series (despite frequent misconceptions) but rather an early example of a series with a female lead that would have her exposed before and during battle for a male audience.
